Inspect walls in daylight and side lighting
Look at the surface near the window and with the room lighting switched on. Identify fixing holes, uneven areas, joints and loose existing coatings. Take both room-wide photographs and close-ups of defects. Photos help with an initial discussion, although the strength and condition of the surface may need an inspection in person.
Agree local repairs or full-surface filling
A few shelf holes and an uneven wall across its entire area need different preparation. Ask for defect repairs, filling, sanding and priming to be identified in the proposal. Dark colours or strong side lighting can make unevenness more noticeable. Agree the expected surface finish before choosing the final decoration.
Clean the surface and allow materials to dry
Dust, grease and weak old layers can prevent reliable adhesion. Cleaning methods, primer and drying periods must suit the actual surface and the chosen coating system. There is no single schedule for every wall. Damp marks or recurring defects need their cause investigated before they are covered with a new colour.
Prepare the room and your enquiry
Remove small items, mention furniture that cannot be moved out, and agree floor protection and room access. Send the location, approximate dimensions, photographs and preferred timing. For work in Drammen, Lier and Asker, preparation and painting can be discussed together so the agreed scope includes the stages your room actually needs.
