Inspect every side of the house
Do not judge the entire facade from the wall beside the entrance. Different sides of a house can have different coating conditions. Look at peeling areas, joints, end grain and details around windows. Include photographs of all sides in your enquiry, showing both the overall building and individual problem areas.
Separate repairs from painting
A new coating does not replace repairs to a damaged surface. Clarify which areas need cleaning, preparation, primer or repair before painting. The final set of tasks should follow an assessment of the facade material and condition. This also makes it easier to compare proposals that cover the same work.
Allow for changes in weather
Temperature, surface moisture and drying requirements depend on the chosen product. Plan around the manufacturer’s technical instructions and actual site conditions, rather than a calendar date alone. When agreeing the schedule, discuss how stages will be moved if the weather prevents the coating requirements from being met.
Agree access, protection and handover
Mention building height, slopes, plants beside the walls and space for access equipment. Windows, terraces and neighbouring surfaces need protection. For houses in Drammen, Lier and Svelvik, we discuss access and preparation before agreeing the work. A final joint inspection is a useful opportunity to review the finish and maintenance advice for the chosen system.
